Affiliations

The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. ACTFL is the only national organization dedicated to the improvement and expansion of the teaching and learning of all languages at all levels of instruction. ACTFL is an individual membership organization of more than 7,000 foreign language educators and administrators from elementary through graduate education, as well as government and industry.

Over the past 30 years, the ACTFL has become synonymous with innovation, quality, and reliability in meeting the changing needs of foreign language educators and their students. From the development of Proficiency Guidelines, to its leadership role in the creation of national standards, ACTFL focuses on issues that are critical to the growth of both the profession and the individual teacher. Through their membership, new as well as veteran teachers are making an important investment in the future.

The ACTFL was founded in 1967 by the Modern Language Association of America. It remains the only national organization representing teachers of all languages at all education levels and Languages Abroad are proud members.

NAFSA (Association of International Educators) promotes the exchange of students and scholars to and from the United States. The Association sets and upholds standards of good practice and provides professional education and training that strengthen institutional programs and services related to international educational exchange. NAFSA provides a forum for discussion of issues and a network for sharing information as it seeks to increase awareness of and support for international education in higher education, in government, and in the community.

NAFSA's members share a belief that international education advances learning and scholarship, builds respect among different peoples, and enhances constructive leadership in the global community.

The Federation of International Youth Travel Organisations. FIYTO is the world's only membership association and trade forum for companies and organisations specialising in youth travel and tourism.

The Association of Language Travel Organisations. ALTO is the global forum for agents and schools, and national language travel associations. ALTO is the platform for its members to network, set standards and act on issues facing the industry. ALTO has almost 200 members in 45 countries-all active in serving the language travel industry.
