This fascinating country’s official name is the Plurinational State of Bolivia, and it is located in the center of South America. Its population is multiethnic, and there are 37 official languages, the main one of these being Spanish. The country also has many different cultures, and Bolivia contains some beautiful architecture and art. Folk music, too, is interesting and diverse. The country hosts the impressive Carnaval de Oruro every year, a large cultural event involving thousands of dancers and musicians.


Bolivia’s landscape includes part of Andes in the west, and parts of the Amazonian rainforest in the east. Located in the southwest of the country is the largest salt flat in the world, the Salar de Uyuni. Temperatures in Bolivia range from sometimes being very cold in the highlands to being very hot in rainforest areas.

Sucre: It is the constitutional capital of Bolivia and is home to about 247,000 people. The geography of the city is quite spectacular. Located in the south-central part of Bolivia, the city lies is situated at a relatively high altitude of 2750m (9,000 ft) of the Andes mountains which provides a mild and cool climate year-round. A city with Spanish and Catholic influence, its narrow streets are lined with numerous colonial-style buildings, churches, convents and chapels. In addition, many of the city’s buildings are painted white and tiled with red roofs.
