Portuguese language immersion

in

Faro, Portugal

WHAT WE LIKE about this program!
- Charming coastal town, with relaxed, seaside feel
- Great beaches, water sports, golfing nearby
- Beautiful climate year round

Enjoy a Portuguese language course in Portugal at our language school in the city of Faro in the Algarve.

The Algarve is located in the far south of Portugal and is known for its beautiful beaches, year-round sunshine, excellent golf courses and the dramatic coastlines. Water sports such as swimming, snorkeling and wind surfing are popular along the coast. The city of Faro, capital of the Algarve, is a charming old walled city, which was partly destroyed by an earthquake in 1755 and only part of the old town remains. It is famous for its narrow, winding streets, churches, museums, and fishing harbor.

SCHOOL FACILITIES
- Convenient Downtown location
- 8 bright, well-equipped classrooms
- TV and video room
- Computers with free internet access, language lab

Our school is located in a typical styled building of the region, in the city center, walking distance to the waterfront, harbor and main monuments. Just a few kilometers away are excellent golf courses, beaches, water parks and much more. The local area is a mix of business and residential, and is close to St. Antonio a pedestrian shopping street, which offers many small boutiques, cafes, bars, and internet cafes.

PROGRAM BASICS
- Open to all language levels
- Unlimited course length
- Classes Mon - Fri (School is closed Sat & Sun)
- Small class size, Max. 6 students per class

Standard: 3 Lessons daily (15 lessons per week)
Intensive: 6 Lessons daily (30 lessons per week)
Teacher Training: 6 Lessons daily (30 lessons per week)

Teachers are native speakers and many are University educated with years of teaching experience. Classes cover reading, writing, listening, grammar and general comprehension skill but all using communicative methods. They will also use interactive techniques such as role-play, games and perhaps videos to support lesson content. The school uses a very comprehensive series of books, materials, audio-visual and teaching aids.

After classes are over for the day our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture and everyday life: relax on the great beaches, enjoy the water sports, golf courses, beautiful climate and later the lively nightlife.

Examples of typical cultural opportunities: visit Albufeira, a busy market town with a Moorish atmosphere, Armação de Pêra, a typical fishing village with one of the biggest beaches on the Algarve and Silves, an old walled city with a lovely 12th-century cathedral.

Host Family: (private or shared room) breakfast daily
Living with a local host family is the most effective way to become fully immersed in the language and culture. All families are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure quality standards. We choose only quality families who have a genuine interest in international exchange. Many families live near the school and the commute is usually no more than 10 - 25 minutes.

NOTE: Double rooms are only available upon request, if two students are traveling together and wish to share a room. Students are placed in individual bedrooms and will be the only native speaker of their language in the house.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"Francois was enrolled in private classes in both cities of which he felt both were amazing.

His teachers in Lisbon and Faro were excellent. He was very happy that emphasis was put on learning not only the language but the history and culture as well. Francois thought the accommodations in Lisbon were excellent."
Francois Laflamme

I had a great holiday, my first language learning holiday.

Picked up Portuguese in the morning, played golf and relaxed on the beach in the afternoon and practised my language in the evenings with the locals...a great way to spend two week!"
Stuart Rushton (age 35 )
