Learn Italian in an absolutely breathtaking city, Florence has so much to offer the international student looking to learn Italian and learn about the countries culture and history.
The streets of Florence radiate the charm of Italian culture. Few can dismiss the image of Brunelleschi’s cathedral dome bursting through the morning mist – a terracotta balloon hovering above the medieval rooftops. But once the visitor drops down to street level, the profusion of traffic, tourists and touts can remove all sense of tranquillity.
We also offer a "SPLIT CITY" option with our Rome or Capo Vaticano programs, which offers the student the opportunity to visit and study in other cities. This is extremely flexible and allows the opportunity to sample other sites, and accents, you can choose where and for how long.
From the rooftop patio you can look to the horizon and the hills of Tuscany, and the beautiful Duomo. Housed in a typical style building, the school is located on the 6th and 7th floors and the views of Florence are amazing!
Every classroom has large windows opening on to wide terraces which over look the city. The large terrace on the roof, where classes some times take place in the summer, is a favorite place for students to socialize and hang out during or after classes. The school is very bright and our staff help to make the atmosphere warm and friendly.
A short (10 minute) walk will lead you to the cathedral square and to the heart of the city.
Teachers are native speakers and many are University educated with years of teaching experience. Italian programs designed for all levels of the language and a lot emphasis is placed upon the speaking ability of the student.
In addition to the normal classes, audio and video equipment, songs and local Italian newspapers are used to promote the many different ways the language can be used.
All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 10 to 30 minutes away.
Our apartments are normally located within the same distance as the host families and are shared (with other international students studying at the school) so will be sharing with many other nationalities. Our apartments are co-ed, however rooms are shared with the same gender. Apartments are not air conditioned but have fans and will be cleaned once every week. No washing machine is available, however, there is a Laundromat close-by.
NOTE: The comfort upgrade apartment (apt 2) normally offers greater comfort: a larger apartment, better furnished, perhaps with a balcony, better location, TV, etc.

""An extremely educational experience no matter what your age!
The web site was very informative for the program I attended. The pre-departure information was great and the support I received for all my questions was as well. I felt like I was dealing with an extremely well-organized program.
The accommodation was amazing! My host mother was so helpful with everything and was so patient. My roommate was a little young but we became great friends.
The location was spectacular - right near the Ponte Vecchio and other great landmarks but a bit far from the school. The classes were really interesting and definitely focused on conversation, which is excellent. The teachers were all friendly and fun. They offer a lot of cultural activities but not as much as I had hoped for.
You will have fun no matter what but it is significantly more rewarding if you have a good hold of the language."

My language skills and confidence skyrocketed in the first couple of days. I loved it and I hope to return again and again to continue my studies. My host family was great. Signora Casalini was the best housekeeper I have ever seen. Everything was so clean and perfect. I actually tried to find dust anywhere--and I couldn't. The food was unbelievable. Too much food. But culturally, that is how Italians eat so I tried to enjoy it and appreciate it. It was great.
I loved Gabby (in the main office). She is so light hearted and always has a smile on her face. She makes everyone feel comfortable. Also, Leonardo was a great teacher for beginning students. He was patient and he never, never spoke English. Ever. And everyone was able to understand him. Nina was a great teacher too. Very authentic Italian "gusto".
Embrace it. Don't go if you are going to skip class or have a mental block about getting in to it. Take advantage of all of the cultural (outside of class) activities that are offered. They are either free or very very affordable and you don't get that kind of opportunity very often.
Languages Abroad provides one of the most comprehensive and enjoyable experiences of Florence that you could have! I hope to return to continue my studies and I certainly will utilize the Languages Abroad program to do so."
