Once known as Constantinople, this is the most important city in Turkey. Straddling both Asia and Europe and just next door to North Africa, this is a magical corner of the globe where one can witness many cultures in one day! No other city in the world spans two continents the way Istanbul does.
This is a city steeped in history and culture and a visit here is like stepping back in time. On a typical itinerary one must include the fascinating Topkapi palace, and other important palaces, mosques and minarets. Istanbul is fast becoming a major tourist destination and in 2006 wlecomed over 5 million tourists!
Strolling along the Bosphorus Straight is a great way to enjoy a sunny day. See children playing, families on outings - in fact, this may be the best place to observe present-day Turkish culture. The Grand Bazaar (or Kapali Çarsi) is another place where one can get lost in. With its multitude of alleyways, cafes and stalls, it could take months to see the whole thing.
Turkey enjoys a pleasant climate similar to other Mediterranean countries such as Greece and Cyprus, but the best time of year to go is spring (April - June) or early fall (September - October). Istanbul boasts an excellent International airport making the location extremely convenient for travelers from all over the world.
This is truly a wonderful place to relax and learn Turkish!
Levent is in direct competition with the nearby Maslak business district for new skyscraper projects. One of the major skyscraper clusters of the city is located here (Levent hosts the tallest completed skyscraper in Turkey), well hidden behind the hills of the Bosphorus, and not disturbing the atmosphere of the historical peninsula of Istanbul
There are also a large number of shopping malls nearby and it is a popular residential area. The school is well placed and close to the metro providing easy travel to all main Istanbul attractions.
Our school is registered and licensed by the Ministry of National Education and offers excellent facilities with a
maximum capacity of 180 students at the various branches and employs 15 dedicated staff members.
We provide a vibrant and multicultural atmosphere giving students the opportunity to meet people from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Our approach is student-centred and communicative, which means that teachers will focus on your aims and interests to help you use Turkish in an effective and practical way. The emphasis is on building confidence and developing fluency in a lively and authentic language context. At the end of the course all students are given a Certificate of Attendance and a Progress Report.
We are very careful about the standards of teachers teaching all classes and we follow not only the local standards but also the international ones because of our connection to the international market.
The Turkish Department has a Director of Studies leading a team of qualified teachers, and two student advisors helping students with all aspects of their course and stay in Istanbul. The maximum number of students in each Turkish class is 8.
Living with a host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the new language and culture. All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 15 - 20 minutes.
Students in Istanbul can choose from either Breakfast Only or Half Board options.
