WHAT WE LIKE - Key features of this program
By studying in several locations, it allows the student to see more of the country, and experience the regional differences in both culture and language. Students will spend a month in each city, live with a host family & apartment (Capo Vaticano ), study 4 lessons of Italian daily and enjoy many cultural activities related to that region.

Live in three different cities / towns - experience the difference in regions, culture and atmosphere - experience regional dialects - live & eat with local host families - airport pick included at all locations - make new friends each month!

This program is designed to give students the experience of studying the Italian language abroad in three different, exciting locations in Italy:

FLORENCE: An absolutely breathtaking city, Florence has so much to offer the international visitor that every day is a wonderful experience. The streets of Florence radiate the charm of Italian culture. Few can dismiss the image of Brunelleschi’s cathedral dome bursting through the morning mist or a terracotta balloon hovering above the medieval rooftops.

ROME: It's a vast city and the one thing you cannot escape from in Rome, is history, this exciting and stylish metropolis oozes with it. Rome is a city of noise, you can not escape the hectic vibrancy of the place with its anarchic traffic, its piazzas, its fountains, its fabulous restaurants and all the other idiosyncrasies that make Rome quite simply one of the most remarkable cities in the world.

CAPO VATICANO: Here, in the thick countryside of South West Calabria you will find Capo Vaticano and our school. Just a few kilometers south of the medieval town of Tropea, Capo Vaticano overlooks the rocky landscape and offers beautiful views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The school building is nestled in the center of an old rustic estate, surrounded by overgrown gardens with orange groves, lemon trees, grapevines and fig trees.

Travel Between Cities
Airfare and transportation is not included in the program price and this will be arranged by the student upon confirmation of enrollment. Connections between each school is easy via train, air or public transport (Please see travel travel information below).

SCHOOL FACILITIES
All school are centrally located with well equipped classrooms, similar size and facilities offering access to the internet and e-mail, offer a good mix of international students and are close to all amenties.

Our featured schools are all a similar standard, atmosphere and same methodology in teaching the language.

Cultural and Social Activities:
local activities could include: workshops, lectures, social evenings, trips to local galleries, museums, dance or cooking classes, theatres and places of interest. During your free time relax or explore on your own.

On the weekend many students can arrange to take excursions to local cities or local places of interest.

Host Family (Florence & Rome) - private room / 1 or 2 meals daily

Living with a host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the language and culture of your chosen country. All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 10 to 25 minutes away.

However, you should also have realistic expectations and recognize that an element of flexibility is required to adjust to the local customs and way of life. Your host family may not have the same comforts as your own home but you will always be treated as a guest and free to come and go as you wish.

Self Catering Apartment (Capo Vaticano) - private room / no meals

The apartment offers the basic essentials, is clean and located on or close to the school grounds and shared (with other international students studying at the school), so will be sharing with many other nationalities.

Our apartments are co-ed, however rooms are shared with the same gender. Apartments are not air conditioned but have fans. Linens will be provided for you, please bring you own towels. Apartments are cleaned once every week. No washing machine is available, however, there is a laundromat close-by.

All apartments provide a well equipped kitchen (including cooking utensils), shared bathroom facilities and living areas. The apartments vary in size and number of bedrooms, depending on the location in the city but expect to share with 2 - 4 other students.

All apartments are self-catering, which means meals are not included and students provide their own groceries and prepare their own meals or eat out. In many cases the cooking becomes a social event in the apartment and a great way to chat and make new friends. Many students have theme nights, where they take turns to prepare a meal from their home country for the rest of the students.

For the duration of the stay in the apartment, you will be living among other students. You are expected to comply with the 'mutual' house rules. This means that common living areas must be kept clean and tidy at all times. All students have keys to the apartment and can come and go as they wish.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"I had an amazing time!

It was something that everyone should experience! The places I went and people I met definately have made an impact on my life and I will return to Italy in the future!

The schools I went to improved my speaking Italian, but I also became fluent by talking to the people and living the life of the daily person! I truly believe it was my destiny to go and travel in Italy.

I felt at home in Italy and would recommend that everyone go and experience a different lifestyle! Langugages Abroad was amazing! The staff was so helpful!! Thanks to everyone who helped! The trip and everything about it went smoothly!

I would not trade the host family experience for anything! The families were all so amazing! I learned so much more from them and their families! It was great to sit down and have a great meal with them every night!

Future Advice: To get a feel for a contries lifestyle, I would suggest going to at least two places!! Traveling is an amazing way to see the differences between the south culture as opposed to the north."
Elizabeth Cusimano, (Age 20)

"This trip was quite possibly the most life-changing trip I have ever been on.

The people are extremely warm and welcoming, not to mention the immediate feeling of family at the school in Santa Domenica. The language course is top notch!"
Michael (age 21)

Arrival airport:
ROME or PISA
Most students will fly either into Rome international airport or Galileo Galilei near Pisa (a fast train, coordinated with flights, and connects with Florence, approx. one hour).

One of the most convenient international arrivals to Florence is via Rome Airport, which offers a transfer train to Florence directly from Rome airport. The main train station in Florence is less than a 10 minute walk to the school!

Train connections in Italy:
Italy has good connections across the country however make sure you book the "fast trains" which have fewer stops otherwise journeys will take twice the time.

Passports / Visa / Length of stay: It is the participant's responsibility to have a valid passport and any necessary visas and permits to study abroad.

Visit G3Visas for comprehensive information on visa, passport, permit and general country entry requirements.
