WHAT WE LIKE - Key features of this program
Safe capital city (older than rome) & located on 7 rugged hills, lively cafe scene & night life, very easy-going city with unique neighbourhoods. This is a very agreeable city, with lots to see, beaches can be reached within 30 minutes

Enjoy a Portuguese language course in Portugal at our language school in the city of Lisbon.

Lisbon is the capital, which is older than modern Rome and is in fact older than any other western European capital. There are few more immediately agreeable capitals than Lisbon!

A lively and varied place, it remains in some ways curiously provincial, rooted as much in the 1920s as the 1990s. Wooden trams from before World War I clank up outrageous gradients, past mosaic pavements and Art Nouveau cafés.

Modern Lisbon has kept an easy-going, human pace and scale, however the population has doubled over the present century to nearly one million, a tenth of all Portuguese.

Lisbon has recently had two landmark celebrations, in 1994, Lisbon was the European City of Culture and in 1998 the city hosted the world Expo.

Lessons can have individual private lessons added,1, 2, or 3 hours per day in the afternoon and the courses are flexible. Textbooks are developed by our teachers and published. Methodology is communicative with an emphasis on language for communication. Books “Português Sem Fronteiras”.

Host Family: (private room) breakfast daily.

Living with a host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the language and culture of your chosen country.

All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 15 to 45 minutes away by public transport. Sometimes we have 2 students from the school staying in the same family.

An additional meal daily at an additional cost, is also available. Double rooms are only available upon request, if two students are travelling together and wish to share a room. Students are placed in individual bedrooms and will be the only native speaker of their language in the house.

"It was an excellent school and the quality of teachers was great. One surprise was that they had afternoon activities (e.g. visits to the museums etc.) which they paid for and provided a guide.

This was definitely a value added feature. It enabled me to make more friends."
Alnoor A. (age 47)
