French language immersion

in

Montreal, Canada

WHAT WE LIKE about this program!
- Very cosmopolitan city with a European feel
- Closer to home and less expensive than studying in Europe
- Great shopping, boutiques, nightlife and dining
- Students can study either English or French!

Enjoy a French language course in Canada at our language school in the city of Montreal.

The second-largest French-speaking city in the world, Montreal carries on the European tradition of keeping culture within the reach of the people. The nightlife is legendary and a short walk out of a bustling downtown takes visitors back in time to the cobblestone streets, churches and centuries-old buildings of Old Montreal.

Downtown lies between the mountain and Old Montreal, which was the heart of the city until the end of the nineteenth century. Today, its charming buildings are filled with boutiques, bars and restaurants, and visitors and locals promenade along the adjacent Old Port.

SCHOOL FACILITIES
- Central, downtown location
- 26 bright and airy classrooms, computer lab, many social rooms
- Free internet and wireless access

Our school is located in the heart of Montréal, on Ste-Catherine Street, which is Montreal's indisputable main street. This street boasts great shopping, nightlife, restaurants and bars and is buzzing 24 hours a day! The 3 major universities (Concordia, McGill and Université du Québec à Montréal) are all on or near Ste-Catherine Street, with a total population of roughly 90,000 students. Students wishing to meet local Canadian students or enjoy campus life can easily walk to Concordia University.

Housed in a modern five-story building, overlooking a glass-roofed courtyard of a popular shopping mall, it has all the modern facilities of a large international school. It is also located only two blocks from the subway, making it easy for students to get around.

All students take a short test on the first day to ensure accurate placement. Teachers are native speakers and many are university educated with years of teaching experience. Our program is open to all language levels with strong emphasis on oral communication. In addition to standard materials, teachers may use audio / video equipment, songs and local newspapers to help students learn and make the class more interesting.

After class is over for the day, our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture, traditions and everyday life.

Examples of typical cultural opportunities: sports or games, movie nights, museum and gallery visits, local festivals, walking tours of the Old port, the Biodôme and Notre-Dame Basilica, hiking in summer and cross-country/ downhill skiing or snowboarding in winter.

Weekend excursions could include: Eastern Townships (80km east of Montreal, on the border with New England). Picturesque countryside dotted with 19th-century villages settled by Loyalists from the United States who refused to rebel against King George III. Quebec city is also only 2 hours by bus / train.

Festivals: Montreal boasts many fun and diverse outdoor festivals including the world's largest jazz fest that runs 11 days in summer, with over 400 concerts and huge international stars!

Host Family: (private room, 2 meals daily)
Living with a local host family is the most effective way to become fully immersed in the language and culture. All families are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure quality standards. We choose only quality families who have a genuine interest in international exchange. Many families live near the school and the commute is usually no more than 10-30 minutes.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"Montreal is a good learning environment. The teachers are warm and friendly and classes give you the opportunity to associate and learn with your classmates.

The “French only” push in the school and class is a little overwhelming to begin with but then becomes very helpful and accompanies your learning."
Philip L. (age 28)

"Your staff was amazing.

I dealt with Michelle from Toronto and she always answered my emails very promptly. I am extremely impressed with your service. It took me a few days to settle in but once I did, I really enjoyed it. I am a teacher and I was very impressed with their level of professionalism ,knowledge of materials and teaching ability.

Future Advice: Don't hesitate... just do it!!!"
