WHAT WE LIKE - Key features of this program
Large international city, close to the Alps & Austrain border with world-class museums, galleries & architecture. The region is stepped in traditions, strong cultural scene & excellent shopping. School is in the heart of the city / well equipped with modern classrooms.

Enjoy a German language course in Germany at our language school in the city of Munich.

Located to the north of the Bavarian Alps, on the River Isar, Munich (München) is a city that combines proud provincialism with international glamour.

The citizens of Munich demonstrate a cosmopolitan refinement as well as genuine passion for the region’s many traditions and tourists flock to the city for the world famous Oktoberfest, to indulge in an orgy of beer and revelry.

The stereotypical images of lederhosen-clad Bavarians quaffing vast portions of beer and sausage might apply at this time, however, with a strong cultural scene, richly endowed art collections and excellent shopping, the city certainly has more to offer than just light entertainment.

SCHOOL FACILITIES
Well equipped with nice modern classrooms, furniture, modern teaching facilities, a student library, cafeteria, several social areas with Internet access, bike rental.

Our school is situated in the heart of the city center, in a beautiful corner building built in 1688. The school has been renovated and is in easy reach of the underground and public transport. Located between the Marienplatz, Karlsplatz and Sendlinger Tor in the old town of Munich, this is an ideal location.

The school cafeteria is a popular meeting place during the breaks and also enables an intensive interchange between students and teachers out of lesson time.

The school offers a highly varied program of activities, which allows you to improve your German, make new friends from all over the world and simply enjoy yourself.

THE BASICS
Course for all language levels - set dates for beginners - use of course materials - each student will be expected to take a short placement test on the first Monday morning - lessons are usually held in the mornings starting 10:00am each day - min age 18 - Max. 12 students per class - unlimited course length.

Standard: (20 lessons per week)
Intensive: (25 lessons per week)
Combined: (20 lessons + 5 private per week)

The course system contains 6 levels. The teaching plan and progression of each level are set according to selected textbooks. The organization of the levels is carried out in accordance with the examination system of the Goethe Institute: after completion of the basic level, students can acquire the Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache.

After completion of the intermediate level, they can be allowed to the Zentrale Mittelstufenprüfung and following the advanced level to the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung.

The teaching follows a clear progression and aims to train grammar and sentence structures and expand vocabulary. The alternating of teaching methods guarantees optimum learning success. In individual, partner or group work our students train their reading and listening comprehension as well as written and oral expression.

Our main focus is on oral communication, which you can put into practice not only in role plays, language learning games and discussions, but also in the leisure activities with your teachers. Regular tests integrated into the lessons allow course participants to assess their own progress.

After classes are over for the day, our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture, traditions, customs and everyday life.

Host Family: (private or shared room - 2 meals daily)

Living with a host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the language and culture of your chosen country. All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 20 to 30 minutes away.

Self Catering Apartment: (private or shared room)

This is also a very popular option especially for those students looking for further independence. Our apartments are normally located within the same distance as the host families and are shared with other international students studying at the school. Our apartments are co-ed, however rooms are shared with the same gender. Apartments are not air conditioned but have fans and will be cleaned once every week. No washing machine is available, however, there is a Laundromat close-by.

All apartments provide a well equipped kitchen (including cooking utensils), shared bathroom facilities and living areas. The apartments vary in size and number of bedrooms, depending on the location in the city but expect to share with 2 - 4 other students.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"My program in Munich, Germany through Languages Abroad was in sum, a fantastic experience both from a personal, as well as an academic point of view.

From the start, the enrolment process and communication with the Languages Abroad staff was flawless. The pre-departure information was received in a timely fashion and when I arrived in Munich all was ready. It simply could not have been improved on.

The school was located about 20 minutes from the host family's house with the S-Bahn (Subway). All of my expectations were exceeded and then some. I would be pleased to recommend this program through Languages Abroad to anyone considering it.

The services provided could not have been better. My host family spoiled me to the extent that I did not want to leave. The only negative, I gained a bit of weight!! The food was that good as was the conversation and "Gemuetlichkeit". Everything about the experience was top drawer!

The school staff was excellent and I can't say enough good things about them. The curriculum met my needs in every way and the teaching methodology was perfect in that everybody had to speak in German all the time.

My advice to anyone considering this program is "Go for it!!" It was an absolutely perfect way to learn another language and experience another culture."
Ted J., (age 61)
