WHAT WE LIKE - Key features of this program
South of France - very cosmopolitan, safe, upscale mediterranean coastal town / fine architecture / haute culture / great nightlife. This is our most popular location in France, due to great school staff, beautiful all year climate & vibrant location.

Weekend trips include: a train journey to Monte Carlo & Monaco, take the bus to Roquebrune village (famous for its fairy tale castle), a trip to Antibes and Cannes or a weekend in Italy!

Enjoy a French language course in France at our language school in the city of Nice.

Sun kissed Nice, with its sparkling seas and Provençal pleasures is more than simply the capital of the Cote D'Azur, it’s the fifth largest city in France and contains a wealth of fine architecture and culture.

Located on the Mediterranean coast, at the western end of the Riviera, Nice lies between the Alps and Italy's Gulf of Genoa. The Greeks from Marseilles first established Nice around 300BC. When the Greeks conquered a neighboring tribe, they named their city NICE, after the Greek word 'Nike', meaning victory.

Nice boasts a plethora of ruins, museums, boutiques, and a hearty cafe culture. Cafes occupy weathered 17th and 18th century buildings and outdoor markets crowd the old town's streets and Venetian-style squares.

Nice is one of the best places to start a Côte d'Azur adventure. It offers the second largest airport in France and bus excursions to major Riviera destinations. Best of all, it tends to be a bit more affordable than other coastal resort towns. Begin your exploration of "The Maid of Provence" at one of its palaces, Palais Masséna, from which you'll enjoy a magnificent view of the Bay of Angels (Baie des Anges).

SCHOOL FACILITIES
7 bright classrooms, modern furniture, large social room with pool table, which also has several vending machines for coffee, cokes, water and other snacks. School also has a beautiful garden which students can use.

Our school is located in a beautiful building, on a side street just off the Belle epoque, just minutes walk from the finest street in town, the Rue Medicine.

It is a few minutes walk to the famous Notre Dame Cathedral and only ten minutes walk from the Old Town, Promenade and the beach.

Close to both the train and bus stations, the school neighborhood offers a nice atmosphere with boutique shops, cafes and bars, ideal for lunch breaks or hanging out in after class.

Host Family: (private or shared room) breakfast only
or 2 meals daily

Living with a host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the language and culture of your chosen country. All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 15 to 20 minutes away.

Self Catering Apartments: (private or shared room) no meals, choose between Basic (Apt1) or Comfort (Apt2).

This is also a very popular option especially for those students looking for further independence. Our apartments are normally located within the same distance as the host families and are shared (with other international students studying at the school) so will be sharing with many other nationalities. Our apartments are co-ed, however rooms are shared with the same gender.

All apartments provide a well equipped kitchen (including cooking utensils), shared bathroom facilities and living areas. The apartments vary in size and number of bedrooms, depending on the location in the city but expect to share with 2 - 4 other students.

NOTE: The comfort upgrade apartment (apt2) normally offers greater comfort: a larger apartment, better furnished, perhaps with a balcony, better location, TV, etc.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"My time in Nice was definitely the experience of a lifetime.

The friendships I have made and the things I have experienced are priceless. The classes were enjoyable the activities the school set up were always so much fun. My roommate came the same day, we created a special bond and he has become one of my closest friends and almost like a brother to me.

I made so many friends there in Nice, and I am already missing all of them as they have all become such a big part of my life in France. I should hope anyone else out there considering a program like this to do it as soon as possible. Again, a priceless experience that I'll never forget. One of the best memories I'll ever have in my life. The website was very user friendly and provided a lot of information, which was extremely helpful in choosing a program. I couldn't think of any way to improve the website, a score of 10 out of 10!

Location was awesome. The family was great and I learned a lot by living with them. I am very glad I chose to do this program, for it has made a life long impression on me that I'll keep with me till my dying day."

"I had a fantastic time in Nice!!

I met great people, the teachers were phenomenal and my grasp of the French language improved drasticly. Everyone was great! The staff at Languages Abroad were very responsive and organized. I would definitely use your services again.

I loved my host family! I hope to stay in touch with them in the future and any student that gets to stay with them is extremely lucky. The location was very central and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. I learned and laughed a lot. The teachers made learning fun and really challenged me to speak better French.

Future Advice: First of all, I would say definitely do it. However, they also need to be prepared to live in a different country and culture and understand that its not going to be easy to learn a new language. You need to give it time and realize that you're going to have bad days, as well as, good."
Lisa O. (age 30)
