WHAT WE LIKE - Key features of this program
Bustling capital city, jam-packed with important historical sites. Quite simply one of the most remarkable cities in the world. School located in the charming Prati district.

Enjoy an Italian language course in Italy at our language school in the city of Rome.

Rome is located in the middle of Italy on its western coast, about 20km inland. It's a vast city and the one thing you cannot escape from in Rome, is history, this exciting and stylish metropolis oozes with it.

Rome is a city of noise, you can not escape the hectic vibrancy of the place with its anarchic traffic, its piazzas, its fountains, its fabulous restaurants and all the other idiosyncrasies that make Rome quite simply one of the most remarkable cities in the world.

Whether it's Etruscan tombs, Republican meeting rooms, early-Christian churches, Renaissance palaces, Baroque basilicas, the Vatican, or the great swathe of artifacts left by the Roman Empire; the sense of history, art, and architecture, which Rome provides, is all embracing.

The historic city center is quite small and most of the major sights are within a reasonable distance of the central railway station, Stazione Termini.

The Palatine Hill and the Forum are the center of ancient Rome. Via del Corso runs north from the Forum to Piazza del Popolo, with the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain just to its east.

The Vatican is northwest of the Forum, across the River Tiber. Whether it's history, or humanity, Rome is quite simply a feast for the eye.

SCHOOL FACILITIES
4th floor of building, 8 classrooms, students room with library, coffee machine, internet access, a maximum capacity of 80 students, average 40 - 60 students. Gym and sport facilities are located close to the school.

Our school is located in the very central Prati district of Rome. Prati is characterized by many offices, shopping streets and some beautiful little churches, such as S. Gioacchino Church. In this area you can find also the Astronomical observatory, the Olympic Stadium (for football) and the Foro Italico.

The local area offers several typical and cheap restaurants, with all kind of facilities within walking distance. Both the Villa Borghese and Vatican city are within easy reach.

Our school was founded in 1985 and offers a very relaxed atmosphere, where teachers and students become friends. The staff and teachers have been working with the school for many years and are highly experienced and a motivated team. Our school is also recognized by the Ministry of Public Education in Rome.

Our school is an authorized examination center of WBT for 'Certificato d'italiano' of the European Language Certificate based on the Council of Europe's Common Framework of Reference for language learning. We also organize preparation courses to CILS (Certificate of Italian as a Foreign Language - University of Siena).

Host Family: (shared or private room) breakfast daily.

Living with a host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the language and culture of your chosen country.

All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 10 to 30 minutes away.

Self Catering Apartments: (private or shared room) no meals. Choose between Basic (Apt 1) and Comfort (Apt 2).

This is also a very popular option especially for those students looking for further independence. Our apartments are normally located within the same distance as the host families (many are closer) and are shared (with other international students studying at the school). Our apartments are co-ed, however rooms are shared with the same gender.

All apartments provide a well equipped kitchen (including cooking utensils), shared bathroom facilities and living areas. The apartments vary in size and number of bedrooms, depending on the location in the city but expect to share with 2 - 4 other students.

NOTE: The comfort upgrade apartment (apt 2) normally offer greater comfort: a larger apartment, better furnished, perhaps with a balcony, better location, TV, etc.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"This was one of our bests vacations.

Starting from the planning, Jesse at Languages Abroad was so personal and always willing to answer any and all the questions I had. For this particular ocassion, it was me, my husband, and his sister that wanted to take a week of intensive Italian. We asked if it was possible to find a Host family that will take the 3 of us, and they were able to find it. Our family host was great! We were their kids age and they really treated us like their own.

We had lot's of fun as we HAD to communicate in Italian between us since none of us knew each others first Language! Needless to say, we learned tons and made good friends. It was an amazing experience. I recommend it to anyone that would like to have an in depth language and cultural experience. The only problem for us was that we could not do a longer session. If you can, do 2 weeks or more!!!"
Miraida (age: 29)
