WHAT WE LIKE - Key features of this program
(Southern Spain)- a historic city, famous for its cathedral, customs, bullfighting and flamenco with a warm, dry climate. Beautiful, large school in the heart of the city,

Enjoy a Spanish language course in Spain at our language school in the city of Seville.

Seville certainly is one of the most beloved places by visitors to Spain. Although today Moorish influence is architecturally most evident - Andalusia was occupied by Moors for about 800 years -it has been a cultural center long before.

The fertility of this land and its favored climate with mild winters and about 3000 hours of sun per year (if you have visited it in August, where temperatures can arrive to some 47°C, perhaps you will deny to call it favored) made Phoenicians and Carthaginians settle here. Later came the Romans, two of their emperors, Trajan and Hadrian, in fact were born here.

Seville was also once the home of famous and infamous figures of history, the legendary "Don Juan" started from here to conquer the hearts of women across all Europe, while Columbus started from a port close to Seville to discover a new world.

SCHOOL FACILITIES
Large sunny terraces, 35 modern (some air conditioned) classrooms, a library, study and multimedia room, conference room and bookshop specializing in languages, internet lab with access to e-mail & specialist language bookshop.

Our school was founded in 1983 and is located in the center of the city just a few minutes walk from the Town Hall, Cathedral and the Royal Palaces.

The school is housed in a beautiful yet typical Sevillian style building with a large central patio area, which is surrounded by Roman columns, very impressive for a language school.

The school has an annex building located a few minutes walk away, this is normally used for Teacher training as well as any special group programs. The school can hold about 250 students per day and have a wide range of students coming mainly from Europe but also North America and Brazil.

THE BASICS
Courses for all language levels. Set dates for beginners - use of course materials. Each student will be expected to take a short placement test on the first Monday morning. Lessons are usually held in the mornings starting 09:00am each day - min age 18 - Max. 6 students per class. Unlimited course length.

Standard: (24 group lessons per week)

Intensive: (30 group lessons per week)

Long Term: (20 group + 4 cultural lessons / week)

Our programs cater for all language levels from absolute beginners to the more advanced, include the use of course materials and provide a variety of options to enhance your program.

Students can choose 2 optional culture classes a week at no additional cost. These courses are given as talks and conferences and are illustrated by images so that students of all levels can follow them:

Spanish history from Arab times to modern day; History of Art, painting, architecture and sculpture; Spanish cinema, with explanations before the showing; Spanish cuisine, with tasting of the dishes that are prepared in the class, and 'Sevillanas' dance classes as the expression of traditional Andalusian folklore.

For students with a very low level of Spanish we recommend the phonetics and pronunciation classes. Each week students can choose a different option.

The Spanish Ministry of Education and Science Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language) is available and the DELE exams take place in Seville in May and November.

After classes are over for the day, our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture and customs.

Our optional cultural and social activities include: learning to dance Flamenco, Spanish culture classes (e.g. art history, literature, cooking, etc.)

We also offer a Intercambio program (paired with Spaniards, take turns speaking English/Spanish)other activities: sports, talks, excursions, films, parties, amongst many others and we are always open to suggestions from our students.

Popular weekend trips include:Granada, Malaga, Córdoba, Cádiz, Ronda, to the beach or to the mountains and surrounding countryside.

Host Family: (private room - 2 meals daily)

All Spanish families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 20 to 30 minutes away.

Students have access to all living areas in the house and in most cases, will be expected to share the bathroom. All bed linens and pillows will be provided, however we suggest you bring your own towels. If your family does not provide a laundry service, they may allow you to use the laundry facilities for a small additional charge.

Self Catering Apartments: (private / shared room)

This is also a very popular option especially for those students looking for further independence. Our apartments are normally located within the same distance as the host families (many are closer) and are shared (with other international students studying at the school). Our apartments are co-ed, however rooms are shared with the same gender.

All apartments provide a well equipped kitchen (including cooking utensils), shared bathroom facilities and living areas. The apartments vary in size and number of bedrooms, depending on the location in the city but expect to share with 2 - 4 other students.

All apartments are self-catering, which means meals are not included and students provide their own groceries and prepare their own meals or eat out. In many cases the cooking becomes a social event in the apartment and a great way to chat and make new friends. Many students have theme nights, where they take turns to prepare a meal from their home country for the rest of the students.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"Seville was an amazing city and the language program connected me with great people and great things to do during my stay.

The accommodations tend to be a little surprising - the difference between self catered apartments and family stays can often be hard to see, but all in all an excellent experience I would highly recommend."
A. Cann (age 23)

"Teachers and atmosphere were incredible, residence was great!"
K. Williams (age 23)

"Living with my host family was the best part of my experience. My senora and her daughter were beyond patient and helpful. I loved every minute.

I had my own room and bathroom for the most part. The other room that my senora rented out was unoccupied for almost my entire visit. It was about twenty minutes away from school by foot but in a nice, safe, family oriented neighborhood."
A. Wiggins (age 22)
