Italian language immersion![]() inTaormina, Sicily
Enjoy an Italian language course in Sicily at our award winning language school in the city of Taormina.
Taormina is a picturesque and immensely popular sea town perched on a cliff within sight of Mount Etna. This beautiful town is full of culture, including historically important treasures such as a well-preserved Greek Theater, Castle and Cathedral. Every major Mediterranean power has left its mark on Taormina and you will find many archaeological sites. Many people do not realize how much Sicily has to offer, with its sunny days, beautiful beige pebble and sandy beaches, warm aqua blue Mediterranean sea, famous snow topped volcano Mount Etna, mature forests, rolling golden hills and its history. The island is also famous for its citrus fruit, almonds, olives, vegetables, wine and great fishing.
School amenities include a library, computer lab with free Internet access and rooftop terrace. All classrooms are air-conditioned, which offers a great relief from the summer heat.
The school is the only Italian language school in Sicily recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education and A.S.I.L.S. (Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language) and Germany's Bildungsurlaub. It is also accredited by the University for foreigners of Perugia as an Authorized Exam Center (exams are held in June and December) and accredited by the University "Ca' Foscari" of Venice as a recognized teacher training center for decreeing teachers of Italian as Foreign Language at "Ca' Foscari" University.
Our first goal is communication, both oral and written. All teachers at the school are university graduates and many speak at least one or two other languages. Most of them have studied foreign languages at university and/or language schools abroad and all have been trained to teach Italian as a second/foreign language.

REPORT - Ciao, da Taormina, Sicily!
One of my goals for learning to speak Italian was to be able to make friends in Italy. I am so happy to report that in making a friend of dear Antonina, I have reached that goal! Your service, from beginning to end, was outstanding.
I cannot say enough GOOD about my experience staying with Antonina Spadoni! She and I have become great friends."

The teachers were great, the city was beautiful, and my fellow students were a blast to spend time with. Everything went smoothly, and it was very easy to sign up and get going. The location was great, and my landlady was wonderful. The apartment was not overwhelming, but had all the necessities, and I didn't spend much time there anyway.
Future Advice: Just go for it. It's a wonderful experience, and you always meet amazing people."

Actually all of Taormina is amazing. Expensive, but amazing. You can walk for hours and not be find yourself bored and it's impossible to get lost too.
The scenery is amazing, the people are really friendly...and once they realize you're a Babilonian, they help out much by forcing you to speak in Italian only.
There are many excursions to Etna, most all of the hotels and the school can organize. Catania is accessible by bus, although I did not like Catania. With the predominant winds taking Etna's smoke that way, it looks dirty and smoggy most always.
The food at large is terrific, the restaurants are wonderful. I would not dare recommend one over another because they are all amazing. The Pesce Fresco restaurant was my fav.
In Hotel Paradiso upstairs they have dinners every night. For 20 Euros, you can have the daily menu and is likely the cheapest in all of Taormina. (typically speaking a lunch can cost in access of such). I had several weeks of lessons and I still want (and need) more!"
There are weekly scheduled flights from many European cities and several daily flight connections from Rome, Milan, Napes and Bologna.
From the airport to Taormina, there are several public buses that leave every hour and the trip takes about 90 minutes. The school also offers an airport pick up if booked in advance.
There are also direct train services from many main towns of Italy. The station for Taormina is Giardini-Naxos, directly on the coast. Taormina is a 10 minute drive from the station by local bus or taxi.
