WHAT WE LIKE - Key features of this program
By studying in several locations and countries, it allows the student to see more of the continent, and experience the regional differences in both culture and language. Students will spend a month in each city, live with a host family, study 4 lessons of Spanish daily and enjoy many cultural activities related to that region.

Live in three different cities in 3 different countries - experience the difference in regions, culture and atmosphere - experience regional Spanish dialects - live & eat with local host families - airport pick included at all locations - make new friends each month!

This program is designed to give students the experience of studying the Spanish language abroad but in three different, exciting cities and countries in South America:

ECUADOR: Visit the capital of Ecuador, arguably the most beautiful city in South America, located at (2,800 meters) above sea level in a high valley at the base of Mount Pichincha.

PERU: Travel on to Cusco in Peru, (3,400 meters above sea level), the most important pre-Columbian metropolis in the American continent and is heir to a cultural tradition developed all over the Peruvian territory since 18 thousand years B.C. Enjoy the Inca Trail.

BOLIVIA: Finally our program ends in Sucre, Bolivia, known as “the white city of the Americas” located at an altitude of (2,790 meters above sea level) a "World Heritage Site" and an integral part of Bolivian history.

Travel Between Cities / Countries
Airfare and transportation is not included in the program price and this will be arranged by the student upon confirmation of enrollment. There are no direct connections between Quito, Cusco and Sucre by land or by air so this will have to be planned. Travelling between the cities will take two full days and involve changes along the way, adding to the experience of this program.( Please see travel information below)

Our program caters for all language levels with set start dates, include the use of course materials and provide a variety of options to enhance your program.

This program offers you the opportunity to experience the difference in regional Spanish dialects and culture. All teachers are qualified to teach Spanish and are University educated with years of teaching experience.

Each student will be expected to take a short placement test upon arrival at each destination to determine the students language level and ensure placement in the correct class. The student's ability and language proficiency should improve throughout the program.

The course will help enhance your speaking, listening, grammar and general comprehension skills. Teachers will also use interactive techniques such as role-play, games and perhaps videos to support lesson content. Current political, social and cultural materials are integrated to add interest and increase knowledge of the host country and culture.

After classes are over for the day our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture, traditions, customs and everyday life.

Cultural and Social Activities:
Local activities could include: workshops, lectures, social evenings, trips to local galleries, museums, dance or cooking classes, theatres and places of interest. During your free time relax or explore on your own.

On the weekend many students can arrange to take excursions to local cities or local places of interest.

Host Family (private room - 2 meals daily).

Living with a host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the language and culture of your chosen country. All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and are visited regularly by the school to ensure that high living standards are maintained. As many of our host families live in the surrounding neighborhoods, the trip to school, is usually not more than 10 to 25 minutes away.

However, you should also have realistic expectations and recognize that an element of flexibility is required to adjust to the local customs and way of life. Your host family may not have the same comforts as your own home but you will always be treated as a guest and free to come and go as you wish.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"This program is a very effective language and culture immersion program.

I knew no spanish before I went and after 11 weeks of study I was speaking comfortably in the vast majority of situations. I don't see how one could learn a language faster, in fact. The host families were all welcoming, the houses and accommodations comfortable, and the conversation practice in the home is invaluable in improving ones speaking skills. I liked it.

All of the schools were very nice. The teachers taught a solid program well, and everyone was helpful. Sometimes it is difficult because outside of class, all of the students speak english, but that is a matter of personal preference.

Sometimes it was difficult to relate to the host families, but nothing was ever uncomfortable or different than advertised."
Sam Goodman (age: 19)

"I had an unforgettable experience in South America.

The exposure and immersion I had in the culture was life changing. I would recommend it to anybody who is really looking to make lifelong memories and to have your perspective on life completely changed. Not to mention, I know another language now!

The schools were professional but yet friendly. I enjoyed all of the schools, but the school in Sucre was my favorite. The professors there were very personable and the environment was more close nit feeling. The students at the schools always ended up being some of my best friends on my journeys. The classes were also a huge help for me. I feel that I learned a lot in the three months that I was down there.

I was really happy with all of my host families. They were really friendly people and would recommend all of them for future students. My roommates were all good too. Have no complaints at all. The locations of the houses were appropriate as well".
