WHAT WE LIKE - Key features of this program

Enjoy a French language course in Guadaloupe at our language school in the city of St. Anne.

Guadeloupe was originally called Karukera - or "island of beautiful waters" - by its native Carib inhabitants. Its first European visitor was Columbus, who landed here in 1493 and renamed the island in homage to Santa Maria de Guadalupe, in Extremadura, Spain.

Since 1946 the island has been part of the French nation as a French overseas department and today enjoys the same political status as any part of France located in Europe.

Guadeloupe (428,000 inhabitants), comprises of two islands separated by a sea arm - "La Rivière Salée". Grande-Terre in the east is mostly flat and the climate here is dry. Sugar cane plantations farm its limestone soil. The highest hills are in the Grands-Fonds to the south of the island.

Basse-Terre is a mountainous volcanic island, the highest peak is "La Soufrière" (an active vulcano). The clouds, stopped by the mountains, provide the island with abundant rain all the year, however the eastern Atlantic coast is more flat, here you will find large banana plantations.

SCHOOL FACILITIES
The facilities include 5 classrooms all with air conditioning, modern furniture, students have the use of the internet (for a small charge)including free high speed WiFi access, equipped with TV/Video/DVD and recorders/CD and a small library. The school holds between 20 - 35 students each week.

Sainte - Anne, once a sugar town, is a beautiful and probably the most charming seaside town known for its magnificent beaches on the southern coast of Grande-Terre. The town has many pastel-colored buildings including it's town hall. The main square "Place de la Victoire", has a statue of Schoelcher which commemorates the abolition of slavery in 1848.

Our school is located on a street leading to the beach and a turquoise lagoon only 150 meters from the school.

Located in a typical 2 storey building, it offers a very relaxed atmosphere however the teachers are very professional, take teaching seriously with good teaching factilities.

Located within a few minutes walk are shops, banks, cafe's, post-office, a cyber café, doctor's office & police station.

Students come from around the world to study French and the school is recognized La Fédération des centres de F.L.E., French Ministry of Labour, Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Paris & Bildungsurlaub (Berlin & Hamburg)

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"Sainte Anne looked exactly like any picture, book, or website made it look like. Even better really!

All of the local people were very friendly and courteous, I always felt safe. I didn't receive my housing information until very late, but did receive responses when I emailed. I appreciated the lengthy orientation packet sent to me early on with a lot of good predeparture information.

My housing accommodations were excellent. I enjoyed having my own room/space. I didn't really connect with my host family much.

I would definitely recommend it."
Patty P. (age 25)
