Study & learn Croatian in CROATIA

Whether they were from Italy, Turkey, or Germany, the country now formally called the Republic of Croatia has certainly had its fair share of invasions during the past. Its various foreign rulers and neighboring countries (which include Hungary, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro, as well as Italy on the other side of the Adriatic Sea) have strongly influenced the often striking architecture in many regions of Croatia. The country’s language, however, is now protected from foreign influence, as are many diverse traditions.

In addition to its rich culture, influenced by fourteen centuries of history, Croatia offers more UNESCO World’s intangible culture masterpieces than any other European country. It is strong in the worlds of art, literature and music, and its culture varies from region to region, as does its cuisine and geography. Croatia contains beautifully-colored lakes with waterfalls and undulating, forested hills, as well as ragged coastlines by the sea. Its climate ranges from highland and temperate to subtropical (on the impressive Palagruža archipelago) and Mediterranean (on the coast, where stunning islands such as Mljet can be found).
