While the weather might not help England attract visitors, its history, countryside, cities and of course its language certainly do. With historical, world famous places of interest, from Stonehenge and Big Ben (which, incidentally, is the name of the Bell, while the building itself is called St. Stephen’s Tower) to the ultra-modern London Eye. No one can deny that the country has had a rich and dramatic history, which dates back to around 35,000 years ago. From the Romans and the Saxons to William the Conqueror, England has had no shortage of invaders hoping to gain control of this small country. Today, the British Royal Family remains a great source of fascination for both English citizens and tourists.

England’s geography varies from very old mountains, moorland and undulating hills to the famous white cliffs at Dover. Within many cities, particularly Bath, York and London, Roman architecture is prominent. The English cuisine contains several traditional dishes such as fish ‘n’ chips and the English breakfast which, while perhaps not the healthiest choices, remain popular around the country. English literature, on the other hand, enjoys a more positive reputation abroad, as do the famous theatrical performances which take place in London, as well as many English pop music singers and bands.
