Study & Learn Japanese in JAPAN

The State of Japan is comprised of more than three thousand islands in the Pacific Ocean, to the east of China. Four of these, the largest, make up most of the country, and many are volcanic. Japan’s history is long and rich, with evidence of humans first occupying the area dating to around 30,000 BC. Today, the country’s culture is influenced by those in Asia, North America and Europe. Japan has many traditional crafts, such as origami, and interesting performances including Bunraku, a type of theater involving puppets. Fascinating and complex tea ceremonies are also practiced in Japan. The country’s cuisine commonly includes rice and noodles, and some dish types are eaten around the world, for example sushi, sashimi and tempura. But while Japan practices many traditions, the country is also extremely technologically innovative.

Most of Japan’s area is covered by forested mountains, and most of the parts which can be inhabited are found by the coast. The country’s climate varies greatly, resulting in some areas having hot summers and others being cool. Some islands have heavy snow in the winter, but Japan has over one thousand beaches. Many of these are picture-perfect, with turquoise water and pale sand, and another – the Ocean Dome – is one of the world’s largest artificial indoor sea beaches.
