Study Danish in the Home of your Own Private Teacher in Copenhagen

Copenhagen is a charming city that has something for every traveller. Copenhagen has grown from a quiet capital into one of the most visited, dynamic, wealthy, and environmentally conscious cities in Scandinavia! In 2014 Monocle ranked it the Most Liveable City in the World for the second time!

Denmark is one of the easiest places to get around thanks to its sprawling railways and cycling paths. This fantastic city is just a train ride away from Denmark’s natural beauty just outside the city limits, and it’s one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the world! Copenhagen is located on the Oresund straight and comes from the Danish word “Køpmannæhafn” (merchants’ harbour).

Copenhagen is a gloriously attractive city that elegantly combines the old and new. Here you’ll find plenty of impressive historical buildings alongside striking modern interjections like Henning Larsen’s Royal Opera House. The Danish appreciation for design is evident in almost every aspect of daily life, and you’re sure to come across functional and elegant objects wherever you go.

It's no surprise that this beautiful city has been inspiring artists for centuries as some particularly recognizable works can be found throughout the city including the Little Mermaid statue, which inspired Hans Christian Andersen to write the fairy tale in 1837; as well as Kronborg Castle, the setting for Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Copenhagen also has dozens of annual festivals and events. The harbour water is so clean that they’re able to hold the Round Christiansborg Open Water Swim Race every August. Twice a year Copenhagen hosts the largest fashion week in Northern Europe, and during the Whitsun holiday the Copenhagen Carnival is celebrated throughout the city, although many of the events are centralized in Faelledparken. Just west of Copenhagen is Roskilde, where the largest rock music festival in Europe is held annually. No matter where you end up in Copenhagen, you’ll always have new things to do and places to see!

The Live & Learn program offers you a unique and truly immersive way to experience this forward-thinking city. Your host family will be able to recommend particular places of interest as they get to know you personally through your private, professional Danish lessons. You’ll also learn that much more quickly and effectively in a place where you can practice your language skills as you learn them.
