Study Italian in The Home of Your Own Private Teacher in Italy

Italy is famous for its dramatic history, proud culture, delicious cuisine and exceptional natural beauty. Prior to unification in 1861, the Italian peninsula was a collection of independent city states, and because of this, each region retains a distinct cultural identity to this day.

Italy can be divided into five broad geographic areas: Northwest, Northeast, Central, Southern Italy, and the islands of Sicily and Sardinia. We’re thrilled to be able offer the Live & Learn program in all of these wonderful regions. Whichever region you choose, you’re sure to have an amazing experience!

Northwest Italy has beautiful landscapes and incredible coasts. Here you can explore the Italian Riviera, the idyllic Italian countryside, and some of the country’s most influential cities, including Milan and Genoa. Milan is a famously luxurious fashion capital as well as the wealthiest city in Italy. This is the perfect place to experience high culture and admire a mix of impressive architecture – both ancient and modern. Genoa is smaller than Milan but it’s just as lovely. This meandering port city is a great place for strolling, and its home to one of the world's finest Aquariums.

Northeast Italy is where you’ll find the majestic Italian Alps, with their many scenic ski resorts and cozy chalets. The most visited city in this region is lovely Venice. This city on the sea, with its ornate architecture and gondola filled canals, is one of the most romantic cities in the world.

In Central Italy you’ll find awe-inspiring Rome, the iconic city of Pisa, and Florence, the jewel of Tuscany! Both cities are incredibly beautiful and have fascinating historic sites, impressive museums, and incredible art galleries.

Southern Italy is an enchanting, pastoral region. Here you’ll find the romantic coastal city of Naples – founded by the Greeks in the 7th and 6th centuries BCE, and Pompeii – the best preserved Roman city.

Sicily is an incredible and varied destination. It’s the perfect place to enjoy world-renowned food and wine, amazing archaeological sites, and vibrant, high-energy cities like Palermo and Taormina.

Sardinia is another gloriously beautiful island, with impressive historic sites dating back to the Bronze Age.
