Study Polish in the Home of Your Own Private Teacher in the Warsaw Region

Warsaw is an incredibly cool city with a laid-back yet edgy lifestyle and rich underground art scene. This compelling city has emerged from the turbulent 20th century as an off-beat and sophisticated capital with a young, creative, and heavily inspired population. While some of Warsaw’s oldest buildings are still intact, the city is primarily a combination of modern architecture of both communist and capitalist design. Many of Warsaw’s austere communist structures have been repurposed and are now some of the hottest spots in the city. We recommend practicing your Polish over cocktails at Zamieszanie or Cuda na Kiju. These two fascinating bars are built into the refurbished stairway of the old communist party’s former headquarters.

Warsaw is full of intriguing places and events. There are (of course) the many museums, art galleries, and national monuments you’d expect in a capital, but it’s the ‘underground’ galleries and small theatres, which present exhibitions and plays that don’t fit in national institutions, that really give the city its personality! There are plenty of pleasant and distinctly Polish activities waiting for you. Have lunch at a cheap and delicious ‘bar mleczny’, attend a riverside party on the banks of the Vistula, or check out some incidental art at the Neon Sign Museum. Warsaw has something for everyone in every season!

The Live & Learn program offers you a unique and truly immersive way to experience this eclectic city. Your host family will be able to recommend particular places of interest as they get to know you personally through your private, professional Polish lessons. You’ll also learn that much more quickly and effectively in a place where you can consistently apply your language skills as you learn them. Warsaw is a cool, welcoming, surprisingly green city that will give you plenty of opportunities to practice and improve your Polish language skills!
