Its good to ask questions! We spend an incredible amount of time on the phone and over e-mail with our students, answering questions about our Live and Learn program. Its very important to ask as many questions as possible before you decide which location or even country is best for you!

Q: Q: What is the minimum age to attend a program?
A: We normally ask for students to be a min of 9 years of age.
Q: Does the price include airfare? If not, how do I book a flight?
A: No the prices do not include airfare however we work with a partner who offers excellent airfares to all our destinations from all across North America. For details, click here.
Q: When booking flights, when should I plan to arrive and depart?
A: All our programs start on the Monday morning so plan to arrive on the Sunday before your start date. Your Sunday evening accommodation is included in the
price. When departing, all our programs finish on the Friday, however you do not have to leave the accommodation until noon on the following Saturday.
Q: If I need a visa, do you arrange this for me?
A: Visas and passports (if required) are the responsibility of the student. We recommend www.g3visas.com for students who require visas or permits. If any letters of invitation from our school is required to obtain a visa, we would be delighted to help, please contact us.
Q: Do you recommend travel and medical insurance?
A: Yes, Languages Abroad strongly recommends that all our students take out medical travel insurance before leaving the country. We can provide you with an excellent, competitively priced, comprehensive policy, which covers you for as long as you need it. Q: Do you provide any pre departure information?
A: Yes, all students receive a comprehensive pre departure information package before departing for the program.
Q: Do your Live & Learn programs offer academic or university credit?
A: No
Q: How do I get to the host family?
A: Your program does not include a pick-up service, you are expected to catch public transportation (taxi, bus, tram) or you can request the family to meet you at the airport for an additional cost.
Q: What happens if I feel uncomfortable with my family?
A: You will be changed to a new family at no charge.
Q: What level of language skill do I need to attend a Live & Learn program?
A: We accept all levels from complete beginners to advanced levels.
Q: How long is your program and when do the programs start?
A: For as many weeks as you wish and you can start on any date.
Q: Do I have to bring bed linens and towels with me?
A: Please bring some towels with you. Bed linens and pillows will be provided.
Q: Are meals provided?
A: Yes, 3 meals daily are provided.
Q: Can two people live in the same family together?
A: Yes, if you prefer, a two student formula, this is available so that friends or relatives are not separated and can learn together - although better results are obtained if they are placed with different families.
Q: What happens after tuition is over for the day?
A: Students will live the normal life of the teacher's family and will benefit from at least one excursion per week, chosen by the teacher, which is included in the program price. If a student requires specific activities, they should book a program of activities, which consist of excursions, sports, or cultural activities with an adult member of the host family. The student can also do as they wish and explore the new city on their own, your choice!
