"My program in Munich, Germany through Languages Abroad was in sum, a fantastic experience both from a personal, as well as an academic point of view. From the start, the enrolment process and communication with the Languages Abroad staff was flawless. The pre-departure information was received in a timely fashion and when I arrived in Munich all was ready. It simply could not have been improved on. The school was located about 20 minutes from the host family's house with the S-Bahn (Subway). All of my expectations were exceeded and then some. I would be pleased to recommend this program through Languages Abroad to anyone considering it.

The services provided could not have been better. My host family spoiled me to the extent that I did not want to leave. The only negative, I gained a bit of weight!! The food was that good as was the conversation and "Gemuetlichkeit". Everything about the experience was top drawer!! The school staff was excellent and I can't say enough good things about them. The curriculum met my needs in every way and the teaching methodology was perfect in that everybody had to speak in German all the time.

My advice to anyone considering this program is "Go for it!!" It was an absolutely perfect way to learn another language and experience another culture."
Ted J., (age 61) Program: Munich, Germany

"I studied for one month in Moscow in the summer of 2005. I had such a great time that I am going back again this summer! Languages Abroad provided a helpful service in planning the perfect program to study abroad. The staff was wonderful, and I attended one of the best language schools I have ever been to. The school could not be more comforting, reassuring, and supportive. The staff, other students, and overall atmosphere was great! My host family was amazing. I still remain in close contact with them. We treat each other as if we are literally part of each other's families!
Future Advice: Speak to a representative; they will help you find the perfect fit for your needs."
Adam (age: 21) Program: Moscow, Russia

"The instructors are fantastic. They are patient, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile to help you understand snd learn. The school is in a quaint neighborhood near the beach, tapas bars, shopping and accomodations. You will also make new, lifelong friends from all around the globe. Can't wait to go back.

Staff was very helpful and accomodating. Web site was informative. Pre-departure info was useful. Support from corporate office was attentive and thorough. Would have been nice to arrange for pick-up. Taxi driver did not know of address to school and got very upset while driving back and forth. This could be a little unsettling for a younger or female student, or one who has not traveled before.
Future Advice: Go with an open mind, a willingness to learn and be ready to have fun and make new friends. A little Spanish will help. Arrange for arrival transportation at your destination. This will make getting to the school much easier."
Sean Palani (age 35) Program: Malaga, Spain

"I couldn't believe how easy it was. There is so much time, effort and organization that goes into planning a trip but with Languages Abroad, all the most difficult planning is done for you! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Montpellier is a very well organized school. The school was basic and clean with a good student atmosphere. The classes were the best part of my trip as you are in with students of the same level, which makes the learning experience much easier. The staff was very helpful and my professor was fantastic. Overall, a good experience for me although I know of other students who had minor problems.
Future Advice: Take part in the organized trips offered by your schools. This is the best way to meet people, but be sure to enforce that the language you are learning is spoken between peers. At least make an effort."
Robyn Craig (age 25) Program: Montpellier, France

"I had a fantastic time in Nice!! I met great people, the teachers were phenomenal and my grasp of the French language improved drasticly. Everyone was great! The staff at Languages Abroad were very responsive and organized. I would definitely use your services again. I loved my host family! I hope to stay in touch with them in the future and any student that gets to stay with them is extremely lucky. The location was very central and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. I learned and laughed a lot. The teachers made learning fun and really challenged me to speak better French.
Future Advice: First of all, I would say definitely do it. However, they also need to be prepared to live in a different country and culture and understand that its not going to be easy to learn a new language. You need to give it time and realize that you're going to have bad days, as well as, good."
Lisa Ogdie (age 30) Program: Nice, France

"It was a great experience for anyone who wants to learn the language and be emersed in the culture of Firenze. My language skills and confidence skyrocketed in the first couple of days. I loved it and I hope to return again and again to continue my studies.

My host family was great. At first I felt like I was a little bit too far away from school as some of my classmates were within walking distance. But as I settled in, I began to appreciate that I was a little further removed from town. (I was about 10 kilometers from school). Signora Casalini was the best housekeeper I have ever seen. Everything was so clean and perfect. I actually tried to find dust anywhere--and I couldn't. The food was unbelievable. Too much food. But culturally, that is how Italians eat so I tried to enjoy it and appreciate it. It was great.

I loved Gabby (in the main office). She is so light hearted and always has a smile on her face. She makes everyone feel comfortable. Also, Leonardo was a great teacher for beginning students. He was patient and he never, never spoke English. Ever. And everyone was able to understand him. Nina was a great teacher too. Very authentic Italian "gusto".

Future Advice: Embrace it. Don't go if you are going to skip class or have a mental block about getting in to it. Take advantage of all of the cultural (outside of class) activities that are offered. They are either free or very very affordable and you don't get that kind of opportunity very often.

Languages Abroad provides one of the most comprehensive and enjoyable experiences of Florence that you could have! I hope to return to continue my studies and I certainly will utilize the Languages Abroad program to do so."
By Kathi G. (age 49) Program: Florence, Italy

"I had a wonderful time studying French in Nice, and the entire experience really exceeded my expecations. The courses were challenging and effectively taught, and I was amazed at how much I learned in only weeks. The school organized many interesting excursions and opportunities for socializing in the evenings, and I made new friends from all over the world. Highly recommended to anyone! Languages Abroad was very helpful, and fully answered all of my questions. The apartment was centrally located and only a five minute walk to the school. It was surprisingly spacious and clean.

I thought that the school was excellent, with great facilities and a very dedicated and friendly staff. My teacher was excellent, the class size small, and I really felt that I got a lot of individualized attention. There was a lot of camaraderie between the students, due to the afternoon and evening activities that were planned by the school.
Future Advice: Do it! Just go in with an open mind and a willingness to try new things."
Julie Giggy (age 27) Program: Nice, France

"I just finished my two week course at Tours. I would highly recommend the school and the location to all adults during the off season. Regular students during the summer. The location is very good and being in the old city was a two minute walk from the square where everyone meets. I would add Tours to your list of good locations for adults on your Web site since there is so much to see around Tours and it's pretty easy to get around. The family was also very nice."
Scott Meloun - program: Tours, France

"I had a fantastic time in Venice. The small school was in a beautiful central location, with students of all ages and backgrounds. The atmosphere was very friendly among students, and the staff were very approachable. The school also offered an amazing student lunch special at a nearby trattoria! The host family was wonderful, my host couple was very encouraging even though I spoke very little Italian. Because of my home stay experience I feel like a true Venetian!
Future Advice: Knowledge of the local language is essential to anything more than a broad overview of the country. The language focus of the LanguagesAbroad program allowed me to concentrate specifically on Italian culture just by speaking."
Shannon - program: Venice, Italy

"This was the best vacation I've had. The location was beautiful, and I had the opportunity to increase my language skills and interact with native speakers. The languages abroad service was excellent. All my questions were answered quickly and the staff were helpful and professional.

I enjoyed living with a host family. It greatly improved my oral comprehension skills. My room was private and comfortable. The meals were wonderful - fresh market ingredients, local and seasonal. The school staff were professional and very enthusiastic about teaching foreign students. The instruction was fun, yet well planned and executed. It was easy to get to the school by bus and fun to mingle with the other students when class was not in session.
Future Advice: Be flexible, understand local customs, and don't be afraid to try something new."
Lisa Guillory (age: 50) Program: Annecy le Vieux, France

"Languages Abroad provided me with enough information with which to begin my course of study without a lot of concern about the details of making arrangements, payments, etc. Questions were answered when necessary, and the pre-departure information was very helpful. The directors and teachers at the school take there jobs very seriously. I felt I was able to improve my aural comprehension, which was my greatest concern. The family was especially nice and my room was immaculate.

My laundry was done without my even asking. I especially enjoyed sitting down with the family each night both to dine and to discuss the news of the day, in French!
Future Advice: The most important think is to relax, and enjoy the experience. The schools, families, and Languages Abroad have enough experience to handle any difficulties."
Sheldon Kantrowitz, (Age 59) Program: Bordeaux, FRANCE

"I got back yesterday from my week with my host family, Joke van Engelen and her husband. I had to write to tell you what a truly wonderful experience it was. Joke and Harry are 2 of the dearest people I've ever met. The lessons were wonderful, as was the entire experience--and living with them I learned much more than just my 5 hours of official lessons. I wanted to thank you again for providing me with such a splendid experience."
Karen Lindsey, Dutch in Amsterdam, Holland.

"I had an amazing time in Venice, Florence, and Taormina! It was something that everyone should experience! The places I went and people I met definately have made an impact on my life and I will return to Italy in the future! The schools I went to improved my speaking Italian, but I also became fluent by talking to the people and living the life of the daily person! I truly believe it was my destiny to go and travel in Italy. I felt at home in Italy and would recommend that everyone go and experience a different lifestyle! Langugages Abroad was amazing! The staff was so helpful!! Thanks to everyone who helped! The trip and everything about it went smoothly!

I would not trade the host family experience for anything! The families were all so amazing! I learned so much more from them and their families! It was great to sit down and have a great meal with them every night! The school at Venice and Taormina was amazing! I did not much approve of the school in Florence. The teachers were helpful and I learned a lot, but the atmosphere was not very social and friendly.
Future Advice: To get a feel for a contries lifestyle, I would suggest going to at least two places!! Traveling is an amazing way to see the differences between the south culture as opposed to the north."
Elizabeth Cusimano, (Age 20) Program: Venice, Florence, and Taormina, ITALY

"I had the trip of a life time. Nothing could have prepared me for what I would experience. Theres nothing like Europe, i enjoyed every minute of it. I made memories that will last a life time and discovered a new part of myself. I recommend it to everyone.

The staff was great and i really got a grasp on the Italian language. I like how they make beginner classes and more advanced classes. They were great about telling you about the city as well.

I liked the school and the lovely terrace. I also liked how there is students from around the world and you get to see so many cultures. The program is good because you can either choose from the regular or intense program. The school was well lit. Good classrooms.

If you ever get the chance go! Its definitely worth the money and it might seem like a lot but its worth every penny. just choose a language and you'll be surprised at what you can do on your own".
Caitlin Savage (age: 18) Florence, Itlay

"Hello Christine, I just wanted to thank you for your help & let you know that everything here is wonderful. The school is great, staff is wonderful and the city is beautiful.

My host family is great also and the home accomodations are better than anything I expected. I'm glad I was referred to your business for this cool experience!"
Mayra, American student who studied in Lausanne,SWITZERLAND

"This was one of our bets vacations. Starting from the planning, Jesse at Languages Abroad was so personal and always willing to answer any and all the questions I had. For this particular ocassion, it was me, my husband, and his sister that wanted to take a week of intensive Italian. We asked if it was possible to find a Host family that will take the 3 of us, and they were able to find it. Our family host was great! We were their kids age and they really treated us like their own.

We had lot's of fun as we HAD to communicate in Italian between us since none of us knew each others first Language! Needless to say, we learned tons and made good friends. It was an amazing experience. I recommend it to anyone that would like to have an in depth language and cultural experience. The only problem for us was that we could not do a longer session. If you can, do 2 weeks or more!!!"
Miraida (age: 29) who studied in Rome, ITALY

"Rome was a stressful city to actually attempt to live in, but it was all worth it thanks to its endless cultural and historic sites. It was fascinating to walk into ancient buildings only to find myself in someone's modern apartment. Rome's proximity to other major (and not so major) cities makes it cheap, easy, and quick to see other parts of the country for a day or during the weekend.

Studying in Rome is a great way to learn Italian without too much frustration, as most people speak English as well. You will never want to stop eating since food is delicious everywhere and pretty cheap, but you end up losing weight from having to walk everywhere and sweat in a heatwave. All in all an amazing place to be".
Marissa Patterson (Age: 21) American student who studied in Rome, ITALY

"It was very easy to sign up for the program. I'm an American who was in Portugal signing up for a class in Italy and speaking with a person in Canada -- and somehow it all worked out perfectly! The class itself was wonderful. The location was beautiful and the teachers were great. For the price, it was a great way to spend a vacation and learn a language. I'm amazed how much I remember from just two weeks of studies. The staff was extremely helpful, and the website is very easy to use. All the information I would need is there.

My location was exactly what I hoped for. The room was not fancy, but was comfortable, clean, and had all the amenities I needed. Oh, and being able to walk out of your room in the morning and pick an orange right off the tree for breakfast never hurts. Capo Vaticano is the perfect place to study Italian. The area is very low-key, and being surrounded by European students made it even easier to immerse myself in a different world. I picked up enough from just a couple of weeks that I was able to go through all of Italy without any hitches. The other students were very friendly."
Gabriel (age 29)student who studied in Capo Vaticano, ITALY

"This trip was quite possibly the most life-changing trip I have ever been on. The people in this part of Italy are extremely warm and welcoming, not to mention the immediate feeling of family at the school in Santa Domenica.

The language course is top notch, and the beaches are absolutely incredible: clear, blue, and calm. If anyone would like to be immersed in Italian while living in a Mediterranean paradise, come to Capo Vaticano!" Michael Bartucci (21), Canadian student who studied in Capo Vaticano, ITALY

"Everything was perfect, my teacher was GREAT, she met us several times for dinner after class. Our class was focused and small, we all got on great."
Anna Markytan, American student who studied in Vienna, AUSTRIA

"I've studied three months and I've learnt lots of things about the German language and the Austrian culture and history. The school is situated in the center of the town, you can go everywhere you want with the public transportation.

All the teachers are young and they are also good friends. You always know all the other students because the school is not so big. I also believe that you can learn the best German here."
Maria, Swedish student who studied in Vienna, AUSTRIA

"Living with my host family was the best part of my experience. My senora and her daughter were beyond patient and helpful. I loved every minute. I had my own room and bathroom for the most part. The other room that my senora rented out was unoccupied for almost my entire visit. It was about twenty minutes away from school by foot but in a nice, safe, family oriented neighborhood."
Andrew Wiggins (22) American student who studied in Seville, SPAIN

"I had wonderful teachers, good cultural activities and it was a great experience!" Francois Laflamme, Canadain student who studied in Lisbon, PORTUGAL

"I had a blast learning German in Kitzbuhel. The only downside was the lack of snow for skiing, but I was told that this year was uncommon and usually they have the best snow around. I met lots of interesting people and fell in love with the culture. Leaving it was really hard, it felt like leaving home and leaving behind my new friends.

Budget your spending needs early in your trip, with different currencies you don't really realize how much you've spent and how much you have left tell your trying to use your credit card for money."
Ron Simon (22), American student who studied in Kitzbuhel, AUSTRIA

"Michael and I spent 10 days last May in Dubrovnik and were captivated by the people, the natural beauty, and the relaxed pace of life. We began planning our next trip the day we got home."
Micheal and Kerry Jones, American students who studied in Dubrovnik, CROATIA

"Course was fantastic. Half a day of classes was perfect to take in all the sites of Dubrovnik also. Staff are very pleasant and helpful however more communication about accommodation would have been nice. Accommodation was quite expensive but I understand the prices were set by the school and not Languages Abroad.
General Impression: Great location, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I met a great group of people and would definatley go again."
Adriana S. (age 29)studied in Dubrovnik, CROATIA

"It was a wonderful experience. I would definitely participate with Languages Abroad for future programs. The staff was very nice and friendly. I had the best roommates and met lots of new friends. The excursions were excellent.

It's a great way to meet fellow students participating in the program. I met people from all over the world. Truly, Languages Abroad has provided the best cultural experience in my life."
Chantel Snow (22) American student who studied in Nice, FRANCE

"The French program in Nice was GREAT!!!!!! I could not have been happier about the city, culture, the people, the accommodation and the great school. Both the director and the professors where of great help. I loved the whole immersion experience. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. It is a great place for beginners to experience the French language.

The excursions where also great and they gave us the opportunity to experience all of the Cote d'azur or French Riviera. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I will also gladly go back with a program like this!"
P. Lara, American student who studied in Nice, FRANCE

"Vienna is a beautiful city with a rich cultural history...It is a great city for a young woman to live in. I feel quite safe and comfortable here. The public transport system is efficient and runs on a regular basis. For a student without a car it's a wonderful way of getting around town.

The classes are small and one can receive the personal attention needed. The teachers are friendly and it's a great way to meet people from all over the world...this was an experience of a lifetime!!!"
Linda, Houston, American student who studied in Vienna, AUSTRIA

"The teachers encouraged me to learn as quickly as possible by using humor and taking the time to explain what I could not understand."
Veronica Escalona, (21) American student who studied in Madrid, SPAIN

"Excellent teachers and great class sizes. My host family was a good distance from the school and my host mother was great. The best 3 aspects of this program was, meeting people from around the world, attempting to speak French and the location of the school."
Tinkeke Keesmatt, Canadian student who studied in Nice, FRANCE

"Host Family, I loved living with a host family. My host mother only spoke spanish, which forced me to do likewise. Therefore, my spanish improved at home in addition to at school.

My experience was culturally enriching and involved me improving my spanish greatly. I met so many wonderful people from all over the world. I learned so much out of class though my interaction with the people there.

The service was everything that I needed. My enrollment in the program and acquisition of accommodation were taken care of. All I had to do was acquire a visa.

My school was relaxed place for learning spanish. All the teachers were helpful and excellent at explaining things. My only problem was the students spoke little spanish outside of class.

Future Advice: Speak in your language of study as much as possible. Even if you struggle don't quit. I found conversation to be the best tool to learning spanish."
Richard Wells (age: 24) Program: Barcelona, SPAIN

"I had such a wonderful experience while doing my language abroad program. I was in Nice for 4 weeks and stayed with the most wonderful host family. I also did some traveling after my program ended and just had the best time. Thank you for having such a great program which allowed me a wonderful introduction to the culture of France and all of the new friends I made."
Jennifer Berka, American student who studied in Nice, FRANCE

"It helped me feel more confident and self sufficient - as you have to do pretty much everything on your own, there is no hand holding."
Emily Drucker, American student who studied in Florence, ITALY

"I had such a wonderful time in Berlin! It is amazing how much Berlin has bounced back after the Wall came down in '89. The city is booming! I was there for two months and I didn't even get a chance to see everything there was to see! Whether you like museums, memorials, antique bookshops or clubbing and bar hopping - or fine dining, small cafes or pubs - Berlin is the place to go! Future Advice: If you're going for more than just a couple weeks - I recommend going to a bigger city. Berlin was perfect for my two month stay because there was a TON to see and do. However, I think I would have been really bored if I had gone to a smaller place like Düsseldorf or Heidelberg."
Stephanie Glotfelty (age: 21) Program: Berlin, GERMANY

"The experience of living in a foreign country and meeting other international students is absolutely amazing. It is truly a great experience even if you do not need to learn the language.

I chose this program for an extended vacation even though I knew close to nothing of the language. It was so nice to meet so many other students, my roommates were mostly Europeans."
Becky Quach, American student who studied in Nice, FRANCE

I felt as though I was a part of the family, they even bought me a going away present. It was sad to leave so quickly. I think the program is a great idea but only if you have a solid basis before you go in. If you don't already have the basics, I don't think a week would do any good."
Molly Nixon (Age: 20) Dutch in Vleuten, Holland.

The summer program in Dubrovnik was wonderful. Our teacher was amazingly patient and encouraging with our attempts to learn Croatian.

The summer program in Dubrovnik was wonderful. Our teacher was amazingly patient and encouraging with our attempts to learn Croatian.

Services provided by Languages Abroad - besides the registration part, I didn't really have much contact with the services. But the short time that I did, I found everyone to be extrodinarly helpful and professional.

Our teacher was wonderful. It was a little difficult to bring in students halfway through the program as it trough off the flow of the class and I don't think that all of the students were placed in the appropriate level. Future Advice: It will be great, just do it!
Lisa Peterson (age: 34) program: Dubrovnik,
CROATIA

"I had a really positive experience, I only stayed for two weeks so could only learn so much. In the two weeks however I did learn quite a lot and met a lot of people. I am really hoping to be able to do a course again and for a longer time.

All in all a very positive experience. I had a really great family, they made me feel very welcome. Food was fantastic and so was the house. Future Advice: the longer you stay the better!"
E. Pollard (25) American student who studied in Granada, SPAIN

"Had an excellent experience in France in every possible respect. The class sizes were small, the teachers were engaging and very responsive to my questions and concerns. My host family was absolutely awesome, they welcomed me as a member of their own family and were very outgoing allowing me to practice the spoken language for hours every night.

I would say that the thing that I'll take away for the rest of my life from this experience is the friends that I made within my class. I formed close bonds with people that had very different cultural and linguistic backgrounds than myself".
Shreyas Roy (24) American student who studied in Paris, FRANCE

"It was a great experience that really immersed me into the culture and language of Germany. I had a great time with the host family and would recommend that accomodation type to anyone. I really liked the school atmosphere and classes because there were so many international students and I made some great friends while I was there.
Future Advice: I think they should do it because it is a great experience that will broaden their horizons and it's one they will never forget."
Justin H. (age 19), student who studied in Munich, GERMANY

"It was a great experience. You get to fully experience the culture by living with a family and improve your language of study by talking with your host family. Also, by the end of the program you've made great friends from many different countries. Activities d, trips to the vineyards, movies, walking tours, international food night, and a wine tasting course."
Kelly Thomas (23) American student who studied in Frankfurt, GERMANY

"I had a wonderful time in Malaga and all of Andalucia, I made life long friends and certainly plan to return. The location is perfect, take the tours to meet more people and practice your language. My host family was wonderful, very organized, fair, fun and warm."
LeAnn Taylor, American student who studied in Malaga, SPAIN

"Wonderful experience. I want to go back next year after some additional lessons here in the states. My host family was exceptional. I could not have asked for a better host family to stay with. We went out to dinner, vineyards, her friends houses, etc... Excellent time. You must absolutely sign up. You will enjoy every minute of your trip." Jared Cmaidalka (23) American student who studied in Bordeux, FRANCE

"I was extremely impressed with the host family. They were hospitable, warm and welcoming. They treated me as they would a family member and were accommodating to my needs. The lessons were suited to my needs, and the host family made my stay very comfortable. I certainly feel that I was immersed into the culture."
Donna Stanton (47) Polish in Warsaw, Poland

"I really enjoyed my experience in Florence this past summer, and I am now comfortable conversing in Italian. I certainly would recommend this program to anyone who is interested in learning another language."
Debra Mitan American student who studied in Florence, ITALY

"I had a great time and was surprised at how much I learned in only 2 weeks. My family was very friendly and welcoming."
Elizabeth Gregory (27) American student who studied in Bordeux, FRANCE

"My experience was fantastic. My host family was wonderful and the school was amazing. I never thought I could learn so much German so fast! What a great program. I'm telling all of my friends about it. I felt very welcome and involved in my host family's daily life.

I had plenty of free time but also had fun chatting and having meals with my host mother and sister. One of my favorite activities was a visit to Sachsenhausen, a concentration camp museum near Berlin. Other excursions included a wonderful day trip to Dresden, and a boat trip on the Wannsee.

I think students should know that a Languages Abroad program will seriously improve their foreign language skills, especially if they choose to live with a host family."
Heather Roseberry, American student who studied in Berlin, GERMANY

"The language instructors, the host family, and the location were great! I only spent a month in country, however, due to the home stay option I was able to truly immerse myself in the language.

Languages abroad was very helpful and accommodating. The staff was friendly and accessible by phone and email.

The people at the school were very friendly and really made excellent attempts at providing activities to foster friendships and cultural immersion.

Future Advice: Sign up as early as possible if you want to get a good home stay option. The school determines the location by the date that you sign up. Thus, the best locations go early."
Peter Salon (age: 28) Program: Nice, FRANCE

"Thank you for your assistance in helping me book my Spanish language course in Malaga. I have just completed my first week and I am very impressed with the school & the program!"
Vanessa Cheeseman, Australian student who studied in Malaga, SPAIN

"Being submerged in the culture with few speakers of my native tongue forced me to quickly and effectively learn the German language. Meeting people from all around the world was a rich and fulfilling experience.

I am thinking of returning next year. After four short weeks, it was amazing how easy it was to carry on a conversation, strictly in German, with a total stranger. I really surprised myself and my instructors. The trip was totally worth it. The education can not be bought at any university and the flexibility of the the time spent abroad was also priceless."
Christiane Egbert (23) American student who studied in Kitzbuhel, AUSTRIA

"I had the time of my life! The school was hard but also a lot of fun! The teachers was very helpful and caring. This is defiantly something I recommend!

I lived with an old lady. And it was absolutely the best choose! Croatians are very kind and generous and she took really good care of me + that I got to practice my speaking skills everyday with her since she could not speak English. Terrific! It was not to serious and not to easy, after all this was a volunteer education. But if you were eager to learn, the teachers did everything they could for you!" Elin Jonsson (age: 21) Program: Croatia, DUBROVNIK

"It was a great experience. The culture in Italy is like no other. Italy has invested a lot of time and effort to try to keep the city as "untouched" as possible. They have done a great job.

The people there were very nice. They were very eager to speak with you even though you were not even close to being fluent in their language. It was quite a treat.

I had the best family in Rome. I truly did. I went to several other students families and no one compared to mine. They live in a great house and they were very loving. It was hard the first week or so because they didn't speak english and I didn't speak italian. But they were absolutely fantastic."
Brett Bertagnolli (age: 22) Program: Rome, ITALY

"Emily had a really wonderful time in Montreux. She found that the people who run the school were very nice and helpful, as were the teachers there. When she first arrived there she couldn't speak French at all, or understand it when it was spoken. After her experience at our school in Switzerland she said: "I can carry on a real conversation in French.

My comprehension has improved dramatically." The school building (a restored mansion) is very clean and nice. All the rooms on the top floor have balconies with a gorgeous view of Lake Geneva. The school offers, included in its fees, excursions.

Emily went to Zermatt, Gstaad, Fribourg, Lausanne, Gruyeres, and Luzern with the school. There were also trips planned to Geneva, Berne, Basel, and Evian in France. She found that the excursions were really worthwhile and we saw a lot of the country that way."
Emily, the mother of an American student who studied in Montreux, SWITZERLAND

"Before my program, I knew how to count to 10 and say hola. Now I can confidently carry on a conversation with very little difficulty."
Lauren Freeman, Canadian student who studied in Malaga, SPAIN

"The program was extremely flexible about changes I needed to make in dates. The instructors and accommodation were also exceptionally good. I also found it was quite a bargain to get that level of instruction and that quality of accommodation for the price I paid. The family was extremely accommodating, very engaging and very interested in my visit to Paris.

They often invited friends who had recently visited the US to come over for dinner and I greatly enjoyed getting to know them. Don't get frustrated if you feel a little lost the first few days. Once you get used to the immersion environment, it gets much easier -- and learn at your own pace; you don't feel like you have to move up every time class sections are re-assigned".
Chandler Duncan (30) American student who studied in Paris, FRANCE

"I found the staff at Madrid to be very helpful and professional. Class size varied but was never larger than 8, allowing for good participation among the students and the professors. The host family I stayed with was delightful and I found that staying in a family environment helped me to pick up the language more quickly.

I felt very welcome and involved with my host family. I usually spent several hours each weekday evening with them, including dinner, and in spite of my limited language abilities, they made a great deal of effort to include me in conversations."
Diane Duff, American student who studied in Madrid, SPAIN

"Everything was great, family, accommodations, daily life...etc! This was a fantastic experience and definitely the best way to learn a language! The family was wonderful and I felt completely comfortable from the moment I arrived. LA web site and all information was professional and supplied everything I needed to know easily. The people I spoke with at Languages Abroad were very friendly and helpful.
Future Advice: It is the best way to learn a language."

"Everything went really well in Paris. The school is centrally and conveniently located, there is also immediate contact with the locals, so you can practice your French quite easily. The lessons are varied in content so that all participants benefit. A lot of time is taken for communication, vocabulary and grammar - all in a perfect combination".
Jessica Kramer, American student who studied in Paris, FRANCE

"My professor was great - very knowledgeable, patient, and fun. My class size was about 12 people - we had a great time together. I learned a lot about the culture and other aspects of French life that wasn't taught in my high school/college."
Seana Toomey, (21), American student who studied in Nice, FRANCE

"I had an awesome time and really learned a lot more than I ever thought I would!"
Allison Bell (19) American student who studied in Capo Vaticano, ITALY

"The school was perfect, small, immersed and in the most beautiful location. I loved every minute of the whole experience. I think that everybody should see this side of Italian culture and not just what the cities have to offer, you can learn so much more by getting away and seeing more remote destinations like Tropea, Calabria. The classes were well structured and the students were all very motivated and enthusiastic!" Alexis Tjian (23) American student who studied in Capo Vaticano, ITALY

"Capo Vaticano was amazing! The beach is 10 minutes away and truly breathtaking. The staff and teachers were fun, approachable andcompetent. I would recommend this school without reservation. Thanks again!"
Diane Morgan (30) American student who studied in Capo Vaticano, ITALY

Richard Malish (32) American student who studied in Florence, ITALY

"Renee was very pleased with the abilities and professionalism of her teacher and the individual attention she could provide to a small class of 6 students. She was also happy with her accommodations with her host family. Renee would recommend the Portuguese classes in Lisbon to "anyone from a serious student to a vacationer."
Renee Fagot, American student who studied in Lisbon, PORTUGAL

"Malaga is a wonderful city to vacation and learn Spanish in. It is the perfect size to explore on foot for days and days. The very beautiful school is located just a block from an inviting beach on the Mediterranean Sea.

The nights are filled with fresh fish grilling over open fires and Salsa dancing in nightclubs in the City Centre. Hardly anyone speaks English so you must go out and use your new Spanish speaking skills. I met students who were returning for their second or third year. I certainly hope to do the same! The program and living arrangements were next to perfect!"
Nancie Severs, American student who studied in Malaga, SPAIN

"The class was just what I needed. While it was difficult at first as everything was in Italian, the instructors were sensitive to each student and made the effort to get everyone to understand. Tip: Come to class prepared with dictionary. Plan to get together with your fellow students after class."
Robert Hillseth (59) American student who studied in Florence, ITALY

"It was fabulous! I learned so much...not only about the Spanish language and culture, but about myself as well! I had the time of my life. The teachers were great, the school was great! I just wish I would have gone for more than two weeks!"
Nicole King (27) American student who studied in Madrid, SPAIN

"I had a great time. I got to meet people not only from Spain but from around the world. Japan, Italy, Senegal, Slovakia, Holland, Germany, Austria, Sweden and more. I've made life long friendships. It was truly a priceless experience."
Jessica Pierre-Louis (25) Canadian student who studied in Madrid, SPAIN

"What I liked most was the way in which the lessons were planned at the school. The lessons are entirely different to the ones we had at school. There is an emphasis on communication and an active participation during the classes where there is a great deal of opportunity to speak (in Italian of course) and to learn Italian, as one thinks and speaks in Italian all the time. We were a very nice group and we helped each other out and did a lot together. The school gave me the means to learn a lot in a short period and also to have fun just as I had wished."
Lisa Storm American student who studied in Florence, ITALY

"I was really happy to meet many different people of various nationalities at the school in Madrid. I particularly liked this. Not only do you learn about the Spanish culture but also about many others. I can certainly recommend a stay at the school. I never thought that the teachers and staff would be so helpful."
Roland Dege, Dutch student who studied in Madrid, SPAIN

"My stay in Montreux Switzerland was great. Not only did I learn French better than any course in the US, but I learned a lot about Europe and different cultures. Be open to different cultures, and don't have preconceived notions about how people from different nationalities will act and respond to you."
Nancy Jones (18) American student who studied in Montreux, SWITZERLAND

"We had a wonderful time. The school was great and the housing worked out fine for both me and my son. He had people his age to hang out with and there was a couple from the U.S. closer to my age so I wasn't the only person over 22."
Avril, American mother and son who both studied in Montreux, SWITZERLAND

"The school in Calabria is a way to immerse yourself in the Italian lifestyle with all the amenities of home. The relaxing environment and charming local town are conducive to learning Italian. You are surrounded by postcard perfect views and beautiful beaches are only a 10 minute walk away. It is no surprise that many students visit a second, third or fourth time...I'm planning my return visit soon!"
M. Gallo, Canadian student who studied in Capo Vaticano, ITALY

"I had a wonderful experience. I had no idea how much I could learn in such a short time. I had three years of Spanish in high school but there was no comparison. Now I am confident to speak the language."
Jessica Beers, American student who studied in Malaga, SPAIN

"An absolutely fabulous experience!"
Virginia Elliott, American student who studied in Malaga, SPAIN
