About Manuel Antonio

Our Spanish language Summer Camp in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica gives teenagers the chance to learn Spanish while discovering one of the world's most incredible natural areas. Students will stay in Quepos, a small village next to Manuel Antionio beach. Manuel Antonio National Park is located on Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast. Here teens will discover lush rainforest, white-sand beaches, colourful coral reefs, and much more. This incredible park is world-renowned for its biodiversity and teens are sure to enjoy snorkelling in the pristine waters, exploring the park's many hiking trails, and seeing Costa Rican wildlife first hand.

School

Our Spanish language school in Manuel Antonio overlooks Costa Rica's stunning Pacific Coast. This picturesque location gives students easy access to the incredible rainforest and immaculate beaches that Costa Rica is famous for. After class, students can relax and socialize on the beach, which is just a short walk or bus ride away. Students all have lockers at the school where they can store their books and other personal items. 

Language Course

Participants in the Teenagers Abroad Spanish summer program in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica can choose from the following course options:

 

Standard Spanish Course:

  • 4 group lessons daily (15 hours per week)

 

Standard Spanish + Scuba Certification:

  • 4 group Spanish lessons daily (15 hours per week)
  • Scuba lessons

 

The Teenagers Abroad Spanish Camp includes:

Class size: max. 8 students
Spanish courses normally held 9am - 12pm, Monday - Friday
Spanish courses for all language levels
Teachers are qualified & Spanish native speakers
Language certificate given at the end of the summer camp

 

A typical day includes:

Breakfast: 8:00 - 9:00am
Spanish courses: 9:00 - 12:00pm
Lunch: 12:00 - 1:00pm
Organized activities: 1:00 - 4:00pm
Free/leisure time: 4:00 - 6:00pm
Evening meal/evening activities: 6:00 - 11:00pm
Lights out at 11:00pm

Accommodation & Meals

During the program, students will live with a local Host Family. Homestay accommodation includes:

  • Double room
  • 3 meals daily
  • Chaperone who escorts students to & from school
  • Students will share rooms in hotels with other same gender and similar aged students during overnight weekend tours

Activities & Excursions

The Spanish summer camp for teens program provides participants with sufficient time after their Spanish courses to learn more about Costa Rica and its culture, traditions, customs and everyday life.

  • Daily afternoon activities
  • Three evening activities per week
  • Weekly full day excursions on weekends
  • Volunteering once a week

Curfew & Supervision

Level of supervision: HIGH

When the chaperones are not with the students, the students will be with members of their host family. If the students wish, they are allowed to go out in the evening with an adult member of their host family. Students do not have permission to go out in the evening without adult supervision, regardless of their age or circumstance.

Travel & Arrival Information

Arrival airport:

Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO)
San Jose’s international airport is located 40 minutes away from San Pedro.
Transfers from the airport are included on the day of arrival (Sunday) and on the day of departure (Sunday).

Passports / Visa / Length of stay:

Students are responsible to arrange for the necessary visas, passports and permits needed to study abroad. For more information about visas, permits, passports and general country entry requirements, visit CIBT official website.

Flights:

Students are responsible to make all flight arrangements for travel to/from the San Jose airport. Upon arrival at the San Jose airport, one of our staff members will meet the student and take them to their accommodation.

Travel Insurance:

Teenagers Abroad participants have the option to book our Travel Health Insurance.
