Course Options
Program Basics in Quebec City:
- Open to all language levels
- Placement test on the first Monday morning of class
- Maximum 15 students per class
- One lesson is a minimum of 45 minutes
- Flexible course length
- Language proficiency certificate at end of program upon request
Standard Program - Year Round:
- 20 group lessons per week (4 lessons daily)
- Course held Monday – Friday
- 1 week minimum
Intensive Program - Year Round:
- 30 group lessons per week (6 lessons daily)
- Course held Monday – Friday
- 1 week minimum
- Focus on conversation
Super Intensive Program - Year Round:
- 30 group lessons per week (6 lessons daily)
- 10 mini-group lessons per week (2 lessons daily)
- Course held Monday – Friday
- 1 week minimum
- Focus on conversation
Summer Program:
- 20 group lessons per week (4 lessons daily) PLUS
- 15 hours of cooking classes per week (June 16th to July 25th) OR
- 15 hours of drama workshop per week (June 16th to July 25th) OR
- 15 hours of photography workshop per week (2 weeks - July 21st to Aug 1st)
- Course held Monday – Friday
- 1 week minimum, except photography (2 weeks only)
Work Experience Programs:
Volunteering
- Minimum 4 weeks
- Standard French course in the morning
- Volunteering in the afternoon
- Unpaid social work (retirement home, community centre, homeless shelter, etc)
- Intermediate French level required for most placements
Internship
- Minimum 6 months, maximum 12 months
- First half of the program: intensive French course
- Second half of the program: paid part-time internship in the hospitality industry
- Students must have reached a low intermediate French level before starting work
- Preparation workshops
- Surpervision and assistance during work experience
- For visa purposes, total number of hours worked can not exceed total number of hours of French studies
Work
- Working Holiday Visa required (except for Canadian citizens/permanent residents)
- Intensive French course
- Option A - school placement (hospitality industry): program is minimum 6 months (3 months of lessons, 3 months of work)
- Option B - self placement: minimum 4 weeks of lessons, students find their own job afterwards
- Students must have reached a low intermediate French level before starting work
- Preparation workshops
- Assistance during work experience
